basement room floor

Here are some pictures of a room in our basement that we decided to paint with the garage floor apoxy paint. I really like how it came out it feels so much better and cleaner. I am putting area rugs down over it not covering completely but a good portion. it is that kind of paint that you sprinkle flakes of black and white speck thingys.

Pink Roses Topiary

I needed to make a pretty centerpiece for my food table for a  princess themed enrichment night. Most everything will be pink and frilly, do you like it?

1950's chair makeover

I bought this chair at Deseret Industries for $5.00 I googled it and found out that it is from the 1950's, the metal was a light green with dark green Naugahyde seat and back. Fun it's just crazy what a little paint and some material will do.

Apple Bars

SWEET PASTRY:

2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. real butter, softened (no substitutions!)
1 egg, beaten

APPLE FILLING:

1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. (about 3 medium) sliced, peeled baking apples (I've used Granny Smith in the past, although this time around I used Gala and they were fabulous)

To prepare apple filling, combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon and toss with apples
Spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Gently pat about 2/3 of the crumb mixture onto the bottom of the dish. Preheat oven to 350 and set aside.

When finished, allow to cool completely.

To prepare glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, almond extract, and enough milk to achieve desired consistency.

 GLAZE:

2 c. powdered sugar
About 3 Tbsp. milk (whole milk is best)
1 tsp. almond extract
To prepare crust, mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Cut in butterwith a pastry blender or two knives until you have pea-sized crumbles. Gently mix in beaten egg.

Place glaze in a Ziploc bag and cut off a very small portion of one of the corners. (Or just use a fork(Drizzle glaze over cooled pastry and allow to harden (you can place it in the freezer to hurry things along). Cut into bars and serve.
Enjoy!

A Chair makeover

Here is a chair I bought a while back at a yard sale for $5.00, I really liked the chair, I thought we could recover it someday, but it seemed I never was too inspired by any material till the other day I was at Hobby Lobby (one of my favorite stores) and saw this material on sale for $7.00. Had to have it!! The color goes perfect with my bedroom and also master bath. and here are the results...But I have to give the credit to my sweet husband for recovering it for me, He's such a great handy MAN!
